New Apartments in Downtown Kansas City Give You Easy Access to Leisure Activities

As a person with discerning taste, you enjoy both highbrow and lowbrow activities, depending on your mood.

And because you’re considering renting an apartment home at The Grand, we can assume that you’re looking to enjoy everything the city and its surrounding areas can offer you, before retreating to the new-age luxury of your pet-friendly apartment.

To help you brainstorm some autumnal activities to enjoy this season, we’ve rounded up our four favorite activities – both luxe and relaxed. And with so many other options near downtown Kansas City, you’re sure to come up with more ideas on your own.

So hop into your car, pull out of the controlled access parking garage, and enjoy these nearby destinations for a day out of your new apartment in Kansas City.

Opt for the Scenic at Louisburg Cider Mill

Nothing says fall quite like apple cider and pumpkin picking, and you can enjoy both at Louisburg Cider Mill in Louisburg, Kansas, a short trek from downtown. Take a stop at the family farm where you can savor tasty treats and dine on food-truck fairs on the weekends.

In the country store, enjoy live music, shop for farm-fresh produce and fruit butters, sip handcrafted soda, and take in the rustic fall vibes. This place is famous for their annual cider festival and swap meets, so check their event calendar as you plan your trip.

To get there, hop on  I-35 South from East 13th Street, and follow the interstate to Kansas-68 West. You’ll turn right on Kansas-68 West until you reach your destination on the right side of the roadway. It’s a 41.5-mile drive, but totally worth it for a relaxing day.

Warm Up in the Sauna at Kansas City Wellness Club

If the crisp autumn air is taking its toll on you, and you’re looking for a place to recommit to your wellness after a sun-soaked summer on the lake, you can spend time in a luxe sauna just blocks from your apartment home.

Kansas City Wellness Club offers plenty of other opportunities to become the best version of yourself, including fitness classes, facials, massages, and hairstyling. And if you walk to your appointment, they’ll give you a discount for going green.

A sauna session is just the ticket for sore muscles, skin purification, and re-energizing after a long day at work.

To walk there, head north on Grand Boulevard, turn left onto East 10th Street, and turn right onto Baltimore Avenue. You’ll see the handsome Kansas City Club building on your left; the Wellness Club is tucked inside.

View Vibrant Autumn Leaves All Over the City

Grab takeout from Mildred’s Food + Drink or Milwaukee Delicatessen Company near your apartment, and hit the road to enjoy scenic views of the season from various locations around the city.

Stop wherever you please, like Loose Park near the Plaza, for a picnic lunch, where you can peep gold and red leaves. Take a jaunt over to Powell Gardens, or cruise the Cliff Drive Scenic Byway in northeast Kansas City for a car tour taste of the season. Vaile Mansion and Truman Home in Independence, Missouri make for educational and beautiful stops on your trip, too.

There’s no telling where the fall colors will take you, so fill up your gas tank, grab a sparkling water, and plan to spend a few hours on a slow Saturday, admiring your city.

Hit Arrowhead Stadium to Cheer on the Chiefs

Fall football is in full swing, and there’s nothing like paying for seats on the 50-yard line to see Patrick Mahomes perform magic on the gridiron.

As the Chiefs work toward their bid for the big championship game in February, it’s our responsibility as Kansas Citians to cheer them on throughout the season. And you can get to the stadium pretty quickly from your new apartment in Kansas City.

Once you find your seats, enjoy traditional Kansas City barbecue or a signature waffle sandwich. If you get there early, tailgate with other fans; the game is just as much about camaraderie as it is about winning, right?

To get to Arrowhead Stadium from The Grand, hop on I-70 East and take exit 8A. Follow the signs for the stadium. The total drive is just over eight miles one-way.
