Finding a New Apartment in a City Full of Endless Entertainment

Downtown Kansas City offers entertainment and fun around each corner. From delicious restaurants, unique exhibits, and fun for the entire family, there’s no better place to live.

Historical Museums and Art Exhibits

There are many exceptional museums and art exhibits in the downtown area. If you want to take a deep dive into Kansas City history, spend some time at the National World War I Museum and Memorial, the American Jazz Museum, or the Arabia Steamboat Museum. At the Money Museum, you get to learn about the history of currency and the artistry behind it.

Don’t forget to visit the more artistic attractions too, like the Nelson-Atkins Museum or the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. Both museums offer unique collections of sculptures, paintings, and more.

Kansas City Zoo

The Kansas City Zoo is an award-winning zoo and home to over 200 species. From tigers, to penguins, to poisonous frogs, the zoo has an abundance of interesting animals for you to see and learn about. You can even pet and feed some animals as well! The exhibits are all spaced out, so plan to do a lot of walking. There are different tour packages available if you want a more in-depth experience, as well as fun rides like carousels.

Crown Center

Crown Center is a great place to visit year-round, and particularly with family and friends. This entertainment and commercial hub in the downtown district offers several big attractions. The Sealife Aquarium is home to over 5,000 sea creatures and offers demonstrations and an interactive rock pool experience. The Legoland Discovery Center has rides, play areas, and a remarkable gift shop. In the wintertime, Crown Center opens up their large ice skating rink, called the Ice Terrace, for the public to enjoy throughout the cold months. There are also a variety of restaurants and shops available to make for a fun-filled day.

Looking for studio apartments near you to live closer to the fun? Come join us at The Grand! We offer luxury Kansas City apartments that are only six minutes away from Crown Center.

Union Station

Union Station was once a popular train stop, but is now amazingly preserved and continues to be cherished today. It’s free to get into the station itself, but there are several attractions inside that may cost money for admission. Inside Union Station, there is a movie theatre, planetarium, and a fascinating museum called Science City. Science City offers unique science exhibits and hands-on experiments that are engaging while still educational.

City Market

City Market is one of the greatest shopping districts in the downtown area. This market features food vendors from around the globe, adorable boutiques and shops, and more. Locals around the area adore coming out to shop and dine around this area, which means it’s always buzzing with friendly faces. If you don’t want to walk your dog all the way to the River Market Dog Park, don’t worry. The Grand is a pet-friendly apartment community and we have a dog park on the second floor so you can take your dog out with ease.

Worlds of Fun

The Worlds of Fun theme park spans over 235 acres, with rides for every age so the whole family can enjoy the day here. If you’re going with kids, be sure to stop by the Dinosaurs Alive attraction, which features life-size dinosaurs. Or, stop by Planet Snoopy for some small rides that feature Peanuts characters and mostly cater to younger children. If you don’t particularly enjoy roller coasters, you can visit gift shops and the fun restaurants around the park. Or, you can relax at Oceans of Fun, the water park connected to Worlds of Fun.

Country Club Plaza

The Country Club Plaza is the place to be if you love shopping. Built in the 1920s with Spanish-style architecture, the Plaza has become one of the best shopping districts in Kansas City. There are sculptures and fountains all around the area, adding to the architectural design and aesthetic. Besides high-end stores and places to buy anything from furniture to souvenirs, there are also several delicious restaurants on every street. The Country Club Plaza also holds events, concerts, live music, and more.

KC Power & Light District

The KC Power & Light District is the perfect place for you if you love entertainment, shopping, and good food. By day, it’s a great retail and lunch destination, but by night, it is the life of the party. With live music, different venues, and amazing restaurants and bars, there is something for everyone. The Power & Light district is only a couple minutes away from The Grand, so if you want to live close to the fun, take a 3D tour of some of our apartments and amenities.

Loose Park

Loose Park may seem a little farther from the heart of the city, but this park makes for the perfect place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle. It is the third-largest park in Kansas City, but is one of the most gorgeous. Within this park is a lake and a picnic area. In addition, there’s a rose garden with over 4,000 roses, as well as a playground and sports courts. You can take a stroll by yourself or have a get-together with your friends and grill.

Take the Streetcar

Want to take the scenic route? Hop on the KC Streetcar and take a journey through the heart of Kansas City. Taking a ride on the KC Streetcar is free and takes you all around the best parts of KC. The route includes stops close to City Market, the Power & Light District, and a stop just a quarter mile away from The Grand.
